Een reducer wordt gebruikt om twee leidingen van verschillende grootte in een leidingsysteem te verbinden.Eén uiteinde van de reducer komt overeen met de diameter van de buis met grote diameter en het andere uiteinde van de concentrische reducer komt overeen met de diameter van de buis met kleine diameter.
Een concentrische reducer is een soort reducer die wordt gebruikt in leidingsystemen.Deze eigenschap van de concentrische reducer maakt het toepasbaar in hoogdruk vloeistofstroomsystemen waar er een risico op breuk onder hoge druk.
De excentrische reducer is een vreemde vorm. Het heeft uitbreiding in zijn lichaam alleen aan één kant van de lengte ervan. De andere kant van de lengte blijft parallel aan de buizen.Dit maakt het gemakkelijk om te richten en te hanteren op specifieke locaties. De excentrische reducer is net zo effectief als de concentrische, maar is specifieker in behoeften.
